Honor Band Conductor: Patrick Dandrea

Mr. Patrick Dandrea is in his fifth year as the Director of Instrumental Music at Harvest Park Middle School, where he directs the orchestras, concert bands and jazz band. His ensembles have been recognized for their excellence at regional festivals, highlighted by the Harvest Park Wind Ensemble receiving an invitation to perform as a Guest Performing Ensemble at CASMEC in 2025.

The 2025–2026 school year marks Mr. Dandrea’s 17th year as a music educator. Prior to his tenure at HPMS, he served as the Assistant Band Director at Amador Valley High School (2016–2021). A Massachusetts native, he previously taught in the Weston Public Schools and served as manager of the Rivers Youth Orchestra.

A frequent adjudicator and clinician in the Bay Area, Mr. Dandrea is active in professional service, having served as the Secretary on the CBDA Executive Board (2022-2025) and as Band Representative on the CMEA Bay Section Board (2020–2022). He is also the co-host of the music education podcast, Band Meets Strings (2022-2024).

Mr. Dandrea received his bachelor’s degree in music education with an emphasis on saxophone performance from the College of Fine Arts at Boston University. He completed his master’s degree in music education with an emphasis on instrumental conducting at The Boston Conservatory.

Patrick resides in Oakland, CA, with his wife, Natalie, two children, Noel and Sylvie, and their terrier, Otis.
