This presentation explores how ensemble music making in the modern band setting can address the challenges of digital isolation at a time where technology and artificial intelligence are increasingly replacing human interaction. Through research on the effects of digital isolation as well as the restorative power of ensemble music making, this session highlights how ensemble playing can help students feel more connected and navigate the loneliness epidemic.
