She/her/ella: Unlocking the Music of Latina Choral Composers
Clinician(s): Dr. Corie Brown & David García Saldaña
Dive into the music and backgrounds of female-identified composers from across Latin America through singing, moving, unlocking the rhythms of works which rarely, if ever, have been performed in the United States. Composers such as Beatriz Bilbao of Venezuela, Eliza Schmelkes of Mexico, Suzzette Ortiz of Puerto Rico, and Charito Acuña of Colombia are composers whose works our singers need to sing. Conductors will leave with deeper appreciation and confidence to teach this important repertoire from an informed and joyful place. Resources and scores to be shared are appropriate for all levels/voicings.
