Synopsis: This session will introduce exercises that get students feeling comfortable improvising while building foundational skills. Strategies for getting students started in the world of jazz improvisation will be discussed and demonstrated. Kristen Strom is a professional woodwind performer and teacher in the Bay Area and is on the jazz faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, West Valley College, Santa Clara University and Stanford Jazz Workshop.
